However, іt іѕ nоt clear yet, whеthеr glaucoma dіrесtlу relates tо thе mutation оf NPS gene оr іt іѕ thе deficiency оf а separate gene linked wіth thе gene оf nail patella disorder.

I am 49 years of age and have only been diagnosed with Nail patella syndrome 2 years ago. Whilst I have had serious problems during my life, I have managed until 5 years ago when everything became worse, I am now seriously disabled with many symptoms and in a wheel chair, I have been referred for surgical intervention on both my ankles, both my knees, both my wrists, both my elbows, both my shoulder blades and perhaps my spine. The reason I am writing is to advise, I struggled to get help over the last 2 years bouncing off 14 specialists in the last 5 years, many of them having to google it as they had never heard of it. Even the charity line for NPS, wrongly sent me to a so called expert in Leeds and it turned out he had only ever heard of it in training. However, my genecitist in Leeds wrote to Dr Elizabeth Sweeney in Liverpool, responsible for conducting – I think – the only real study conducted in UK, and she referred me to a Professor S Frostick from The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Orthopaedic centre, and as it turns out he is exactly the right referral, not only does he have a working knowledge in operating specialising upper limb, but has an interest in the illness, he is the Triage Surgeon for the illness in the UK and although he only operates himself on upper limbs, knows and refers other surgeons with working knowledge and experience of operating on patients with NPS on other parts including knees etc, just thought I would pass this info on as I struggled for 2 years – as did my GP – regards
